Here is a brief overview of how a treatment with SJ’s Equine Bodyworks could help your horse.
Is your horse experiencing one of the following?
A bodywork session can assist with any of the above symptoms and more, as a treatment looks at what is going on with your horse’s muscles and fascia and how your horse’s movement is being affected.
IN A NUTSHELL...
Your horse's muscles are wrapped in fascia. If the facia is being restricted in some way, then most likely your horse’s movement won’t be free and flowing. When fascia is tight it can create soreness and tension in the body, which then can lead to the symptoms listed above.
Healthy fascia needs to be soft and supple for the muscles to relax and work to their full potential. Once this happens, your horse will experience relief and will regain their mobility and flexion.
As outlined by Alistair Brooks “ETRT is a natural, holistic way of treating horses who are structurally stiff and sore and present as being tense, irritable, sour, nervous or just generally out of sorts and unwilling to work. ETRT is a non-invasive technique involving the application of pressure and movement with the fingers, thumbs and heels of the hands at specific points on the body of the horse so as to reduce significantly if not entirely, acute or chronic patterns of tension.
The practice of ETRT involves making pre-determined, systematic sequences of cross-fibre moves on the soft tissue of the horse’s body, that is, across the longitudinal bands of the muscles, tendons and ligaments as well as on the connective tissue, which is known as fascia”.
